Interesting first animation

Hi Bahamut7, I don't think we've said anything to each other, but I'm always pleased to see other regulars' work.

Graphic = 7 : the sprites' quality was pretty good, as was the animation, but there wasn't anything special about it neither. Great work though.

Style = 7 : not much to say about it, it was cool, but nothing really new.

Sound = 5 : I really liked the sound, SoaD's my favorite band, but I always give a 5 mark to a movie that doesn't include any other sounds than its music. (you couldn't really get a higher mark with a music video anyway)

Violence = 0 (no violence)

Interactivity = 1 (minimal interactivity)

Humor = 3 : I liked the passage of the rolfcopter and other 1337 vehicules ;)

Overall = 8 : the overall animation was very well done and for a first entry, it's VERY good! I don't really have comments or suggestions, as all you might need is more experience and work time.

Now for the score drop. If you want my opinion, what you're trying to do is complete bullshit. I understand how frustrating it is to have our score lowered by some dumbasses (god, I hate the star syndicate), but mass voting should never be a solution. Does your score matter that much to you? You know what it deserves, people who matters to you know it too. Also, the portal is quite inacurate, just look at my movies, they got way overrated just because they were submitted a while ago while they would hardly be protected right now. So I say track and do all you can against the star syndicate, but being a victim doesn't allow you to pass through the rules and do exactly what the bastards do.

Gave you 3 by the way.

Murray responds:

I know you from the Wi/Ht, but every now and again, you disappear for a bit. But that was a very nice review there and I know about the Star Syndicate problem. I got a bit too pissed off at the bad reviews. If the score slowly dropped until it had the lowest score on the portal, then that wouldn't be too bad since I would feel a little special being at the bottom, LOL.

You sure know how to draw

May be next time you could put all these great drawings in a movie or a game? Seriously, you have skills, but this kind of image gallery won't lead you to anything. If you're not good at animating, may be you could team-up with someone who is, but in this form, you're kinda wasting your talent. Good job anyway, do what you want ;)

Oberst-Bart responds:

A friend of mine is making flash movies,and i draw stuff for him!like...guns

Great animation, may be a little short but still!

I liked it from the beginning to the end and the ending was a pretty good one. "It's about fucking time" ... lol

Hehe! Kinda ironic ain't it?

A flash about a video of a guy doing a frame by frame animation with drawings on paper ... lol. It's like using a pen to engrave a stone. Good work anyway ;)

Gripster2000 responds:

whats wrong with that? i like a little bit of old timey feel on my cartoons. anyway, i feel like i can draw way easier on paper. on flash, this would lose its purpose, which was to show a guy manipulating his own image.

I like the way you put things together

Seriously, I think you could do something great, all you need is to put more work on your graphics, and add voice acting. With these two improvements, your work would definitely be something great. Good work anyway.

CyberDndy responds:

Thank you so much. I know the graphics aren't as good as I would like them to be and I might go back and rework them. Our school doesn't really have the facilities to do voice work otherwise I would have read out the line. Perhaps over the summer I'll rework this.

Don't be too hard with yourself

It's just annoying and if the author himself say is movie isn't worth watching, it doesn't give a good impression. It probably made your movie get a lower score than it deserved, but as far as I can tell, you have great potential. Your animation was fluid, the graphics were well drawn and your style was pretty interesting too. The biggest problem of this ne is that it lasts about 20 seconds. Next time, have confidence in your skills and make one longer, 'cause you're more skilled than half of the portal's authors. Your movie is waaaay better than 99,9% of people's first submission, believe me. Good work though.

Okay, what the hell?

There has always been random submissions on the portal, some of them are worth passing the test, most of them don't. This one does, but it's FAR from deserving a review crew pick award. I'm just gonna review it as normal ...

Graphic=3 : few efforts put in graphic, weak graphics.
Style=0 : first time I give a 0 to style, it was just a lame idea at the beginning.
Sound=6 : the songs' quality was good, there was some effects too.
Violence=1 : one point for the bleeding guy.
Interactivity=2 : you made a menu, congrats.
Humor=0 : nothing actually made me laugh.

Overall=2 : there was nothing interesting in that movie. It's just something without any efforts put on that somehow surprised people, kinda like B ... and we know we can't spell BLAM without B.

Cool idea

It was original and well done, I really liked it :)

It was alright

But you definitely should make your intro shorter, it's longer than the actual movie dude. It irritates people.

It's just a suggestion I'm giving you, don't listen to me if you don't want to.

Plebbi responds:

Its gone

A 10 mark for a trailer, only did it once before

Graphic = 10 : it was some beautifull drawing with an amazing animation quality, it definitely is worth the maximum score.
Style = 10 : mysterious and exciting, I just CAN'T wait to see it, thanks to your movie's style.
Sound = 7 : no sound, but an excellent song at a good quality.
Violence = 10 : an angel getting his wings cutten off, that's violent, plus there was other disturbing things, like a little girl with a gun.
Interactivity 'n humor = 0 : there was none, there shouldn't be any neither.

Overal = 10 : a perfect mark for a quite impressive trailer. You GOT to make the movies this animation promises us, or else it'd be really, really cruel.

It's some amazing work you've done here, congrats.
